Time-Based Automatic Stealth Mode Control for Prusa Printers

1. Purpose Enable automatic activation and deactivation of Stealth Mode on Prusa printers based on predefined time schedules, reducing noise levels during quiet hours without requiring manual interaction for each individual printer. 2. Scope This functionality applies to all Prusa printers in operation within the user’s environment that support Stealth Mode. The feature will be integrated into the printer management system. 3. Functional Requirements 3.1 Scheduling • The system shall allow the user to define one or more daily time ranges (“quiet hours”) during which Stealth Mode is automatically enabled. • The system shall allow the user to define time ranges during which Stealth Mode is automatically disabled. • The schedule shall support weekdays, weekends, and custom day selections. 3.2 Automatic Mode Switching • When the current time enters a defined “quiet hour” period, the system shall automatically switch all selected printers into Stealth Mode. • When the current time leaves a defined “quiet hour” period, the system shall automatically switch the printers back to Normal Mode. • The system shall ensure that changes in Stealth Mode do not interrupt active print jobs and only adjust the print mode dynamically if supported by the firmware. 3.3 Device Selection • The system shall allow the user to select which printers follow the automatic Stealth Mode schedule. • The system shall allow individual printers to be opted out of scheduling if needed. 3.4 Manual Override • Users shall be able to manually override Stealth Mode at any time. • Manual overrides shall not permanently modify the schedule configuration. • The system shall return to schedule-based behavior at the next scheduled switch. 3.5 Status & Feedback • The system shall display the current Stealth Mode status (On/Off) for each printer. • The system shall log all automatic and manual mode changes. • In case a printer fails to switch modes (e.g., firmware limitation or ongoing operation), the system shall notify the user. 4. Non-Functional Requirements 4.1 Reliability • The scheduling mechanism shall be robust against system restarts and retain its configuration. • Time synchronization shall rely on NTP or another reliable clock source. 4.2 Compatibility • The solution must be compatible with Prusa printer firmware that exposes Stealth Mode controls via API, serial commands, or custom G-code. 4.3 Usability • The scheduling UI shall be intuitive, allowing users to configure time-based rules without technical expertise. • The system shall support multiple schedules per day if needed. 4.4 Security • Access to scheduling and printer controls shall require authenticated access.
